Do's And Don'ts

Do - When moving your hot tub cover make sure you only use the designated handles.

Don't - Drag or lift the hot tub cover using the flaps or the lock straps as the seams could tear.

Do - During the winter make sure you remove any snow.

Don't - Place anything on the cover, or walk, stand, sit, etc. on the it the extra weight could cause the cover to sag and the foam core may break.

Do - Before the beginning of each new season it is advised to properly clean your cover.

Don't - Use detergent based soaps, alcohol, dishwashing soap, bleach, or other chemicals and cleaners except those recommended by the hot tub manufacturer.

Do - Once a year remove the foam core sections from the vinyl cover and flip them, this will help reduce the occurrence of sagging in the cover.

Don't - Leave the foam core sections in the sun, as they can melt.

Do - When you are not using your hot tub always secure the cover straps.

Don't - Forget to secure those straps, not only will this keep your family safe but loose straps flapping in the wind could cause damage to the cover.

Do - Check for any cuts or holes in the vinyl cover.

Don't - Neglect to repair any small cuts as water and mold damage can occur the foam core if left unchecked.

Do - Periodically shock the water in the hot tub as dirty water can damage the underside of the hot tub cover.

Don't - Immediately replace the hot tub cover after shocking the water as the chlorine gas can damage the cover. Instead run the jet cycle for a full 30 minutes after shocking the water before replacing the cover.

Do - Use a quality UV vinyl agent a few times a year to help prolong the life of the cover by protecting it from the harmful effects of the sun.

Don't - Use any vinyl agents that contain petroleum or alcohol, as they will damage the vinyl on hot tub covers. When in doubt refer to the manufacturer for approved list of UV products.
